the horse, the night and the desert know me²

alkhaylu waallaylu waalbaydaa'u ta3rifunii

ﺍَﻟﺨَﻴﻞُ ﻭَﺍَﻟﻠَﻴﻞُ ﻭَﺍَﻟﺒَﻴﺪَﺍﺀُ ﺗَﻌﺮِﻓُﻨِﻲ

and the sword, the spear, the notepad and the pen²

waassayfu waarrumHu waalqirTaasu waalqalamu

ﻭَﺍَﻟﺴَّﻴﻒُ ﻭَﺍَﻟﺮُّﻣﺢُ ﻭَﺍَﻟﻘِﺮﻃَﺎﺱُ ﻭَﺍَﻟﻘَﻠَﻢُ

I am the one whose literature the blind can see²

'anaa alladhii naZara al'a3maa 'ilaa 'adabii

ﺃَﻧَﺎ ﺍَﻟَّﺬِﻱ ﻧَﻈَﺮَ ﺍَﻟﺄَﻋﻤَﻰ ﺇِﻟَﻰ ﺃَﺩَﺑِﻲ

and my words were heard by the deaf²

wa'asma3at kalimaatii man bihu Samamu

ﻭَﺃَﺳﻤَﻌَﺖ ﻛَﻠِﻤَﺎﺗِﻲ ﻣَﻦ ﺑِﻪُ ﺻَﻤَﻢُ
