For many years, I wanted to learn Arabic, but all the resources I tried were too boring and did not have the pedagogical tools I wanted. Ten years ago, I studied computer engineering and thought about what to do in my final project. Then I got the idea to build a website with all the functionality I wanted. It developed into this website - arabic.fi - that had 30 000 users in June this year.

Update: During november 2022, arabic.fi had over 47 000 users.

I have built arabic.fi in my spare time. The website is free to use and has no ads (yet). I have never earned any money from the website. I pay for web hosting and domain name myself.

Developing arabic.fi is something I enjoy very much. It gives me the opportunity to combine my two interests in life: Arabic and programming. When I add new words, phrases and sentences to the website, I also help myself remember them and keep them organised. I have plenty of ideas on how to improve the functionality on the website, and new functionality to add. But there is not enough time.

If I were rich, I would quit my job and devote my days to making arabic.fi even better and more comprehensive. Unfortunately, I am not rich. However, if I receive some money, I can devote more time to the website. And if I receive a lot of money, I can devote a lot of time.

If every user would give 0.1 Euro per month. Or if every tenth user would give 1 Euro per month. Or if every hundredth user would give 10 Euro per month. Then I could develop arabic.fi on a full time basis. That would be my dream.
